Sports chiropractors are different than regular chiropractors in that they manage sports-related injuries and work to optimize athletic function through non-invasive joint manipulation. Often, the goal is to improve muscle tone, balance, and performance for a specific sport or movement. Common methods in this specialized field include active release technique (ART), selective functional movement assessment (SFMA), and the Graston technique.

Sports chiropractors also help athletes recover from injuries, prevent further damage, and recover faster. Even if certain parts of the body don’t currently cause pain, small issues can create larger functional problems when stressed by repetitive movements. Areas that are often treated include the neck, back, knee, hip, shoulder and foot.
